Highly Selective and Scalable Fullerene-Cation-Mediated Synthesis Accessing Cyclo[60]fullerenes with
Five-Membered Carbon Ring and Their Application to Perovskite Solar Cells.


A novel synthetic strategy producing cyclo[60]fullerenes with a 5-membered carbon ring is reported.
This methodology exploits in situ aryl[60]fullerene cations as an intermediate,
which enhances the selectivity of the reaction and enables a broad substrate scope.
The cyclo[60]fullerene derivative with a 5-membered carbon ring demonstrates outstanding performance as an
electron-transporting layer in perovskite solar cells.
The obtained power conversion efficiency is the highest among the analogue approaches reported in the literature.
